Riverdale Season 4 Review: 6 Ups & 4 Downs From 'Chapter Fifty-Nine: Fast Times At Riverdale High'

3. Jughead's Transfer

The CWWhen it was initially revealed that Jughead Jones would be transferring schools this season, the reaction wasn't all that positive as, not only would this isolate the show's most interesting character from the rest of the pack, it would limit the shared screen-time between him and Betty.

While the transfer is still set to do all of that, 'Fast Times At Riverdale High' was effective in showing us the other side of things, allowing us all to see that Jughead, as a character, both needs and deserves this. After all, the fact that he's the most interesting character on the show stems from his writing, so after three years, it's about time that the show gives him a chance to showcase his talent.

Speaking of writers, the Riverdale writers did a great job of using other characters to highlight all the pros and cons of transferring, reinforcing that, even though it wouldn't be perfect, it was the chance he needed to finally break free from a town that holds onto its residents far too eagerly.

Moreover, they deserve credit for having Betty be the one to tell him to do it - it had to be her because he would never have left her otherwise. And hopefully this sweet moment between what is undoubtedly the show's healthiest couple suggests that there won't be any unnecessary forced drama between the pair due to distance.
