Schitt’s Creek: Every Season Ranked Worst To Best

1. Season 5

Schitt's Creek
CBC

In season 5, Schitt's Creek became more of a traditional situation comedy, featuring its characters in a variety of episodic events and settings that strayed from what we were usually shown. For example, Moira shot a film in Bosnia, Johnny and Stevie attended a hospitality awards ceremony, and Patrick convinced David to play on his baseball team.

But the thing that stands out most and makes season five the best of the series' short run is the character growth. Season 5 Alexis is far removed from season 1 Alexis, yet the freshness and sass that made her so compelling to begin with is ever-present. Patrick breaks down David's walls every which way, getting him to embrace positivity in an unprecedented manner. And the biggest breakthrough comes in the dynamics between Stevie and the Rose couple, brought on by her motel venture with Johnny and her inspired casting in Cabaret by 'television's Moira Rose.' The girl behind the counter showed that she had more to offer than blasé customer service and witty retorts; in fact, the Roses unwittingly brought out a humanity and vulnerability in Stevie that set the course for her final arc.

Besides, if this season wasn't the automatic winner from the moment we first saw Moira in her crow get-up, then it sealed the deal with 'I'm a little bit a-la-la-la-la-la-la-la! A little bit Alexis!'

Highlights: The 'robbery' at the apothecary; that saucy spin-the-bottle game; Stevie's big solo; and did we mention A Little Bit Alexis?
