Sex Education: 10 Best Storylines So Far

5. The Moordale Chlamydia "Outbreak"

Sex Ed Chlamydia Outbreak
Netflix

A bunch of students wearing masks and looking visually distressed. Now, why does that feel so familiar?

This story plays right into what makes this show so great, and that's taking real-life issues and bringing them to the small screen in a light-hearted way. It addresses the issue of lacklustre sex education (go figure) in the school system and shows how misinformation can spread worse than any STI.

In this episode, a minor outbreak of chlamydia causes the students and faculty of Moordale to go on a freak out frenzy, full of slut-shaming and paranoia. Otis helps the choir girl Fiona (who was accused of spreading it) as the whole thing spirals out of control.

Ultimately, patient zero is found out to be Owen, an awkward guy who kept his infection secret, and Jean Milburn realises that the school needs better sexual education, and thus she takes on the job.

You've got everything you need in this story; a sense of panic, impact on the whole school, a fun little mystery and Otis returning to his roots as Moordale's "sex kid".
