5. Adam Groff

The show tackles many pervasive issues within its run, and it seems that the continued direction will focus on many more. The first episode makes it clear that this isn't a regular title, and that you will learn a lot about subjects you may not be well-versed in. Adam Groff is a perfect fit for the show as he packs multiple subject matters into one character.

Toxic masculinity, insecurity, parental pressure, sexual confusion and bisexuality are just some of the compelling narratives that Adam explores.

One of the most compelling things about him is his strange relationship with the audience. His toxic, and at times, cruel antics make you dislike him. However, his intense sympathetic moments take you in the opposite direction. In a way, your relationship to him is just as confused as he is, ultimately making him one of the most complex and nuanced characters in the show.

The gradual acceptance of his relationship with Eric in the season two climax is beautiful, and it's exciting to think where they will go with him in the next instalment.
