Star Trek: 10 Best Odo Episodes

8. Treachery, Faith And The Great River

Odo DS9
Paramount

An episode that shows how uncomfortable our Changeling is with his status as one of the Founders. In the midst of the final stretch of the war, Weyoun 6 contacts the constable and states that he wishes to defect. Odo meets him and starts to escort him back to DS9, when they are pursued by the Jem'Hadar, led by Weyoun 7 and Damar.

Number 6 has to question his own loyalties, since Odo is one of the Founders and thus a god to him. Naturally, he resents being regarded as such, but is forced to accept Weyoun's devotion when the clone sacrifices himself so that he can escape. The intelligence that the defector brings, however, is that a disease is spreading amongst the Founders, a deadly contagion.

Odo is faced with a decision after this episode. Either he rejects everything that the Founders stands for and lets them die, or he decides that he needs to save them. The decision weighs heavily on him, they are his people and he always yearned to belong to something, but the Founders are tyrannical rulers who would enslave all who stand in their way.

Still bitter that Star Trek Enterprise got canned and almost old enough to angrily tell the kids to 'Get Off My Lawn!'
