Star Trek: 10 Examples Of Incredibly Lazy Alien Makeup

8. The "Budget Klingon" - Trials and Tribble-ations (Deep Space Nine)

Spotted only the once in Deep Space Nine's Trials and Tribble-ations. Watch the bar fight sequence and you can spot this guy a mile off. He's the one duking it out with O'Brien. For the level of quality this installment exudes and the fact it's the 30th Anniversary episode you'd have expected this kind of man-in-a-clown-wig to be avoided. Tragically it's the one, glaring, noticeable fault with this stellar story. The Klingons of The Original Series might not have been a patch on the makeup job that we saw in Star Trek: The Motion Picture and everything thereafter but this is just making things worse than Worf's line about not discussing the lack of facial bumps with outsiders. Accompanied by what appears to be a spray tan of back-street proportions you almost expect a custard pie to come hurtling from his hand accompanied by the Benny Hill theme tune for this performance. Forunately it's on screen for the most fleeting of moments and he does get a good punch but it's not an encounter that we want to be faced with ever again. Reminds us of: Harry Enfield's Scousers

A Star Trek fan from birth, I love to dive into every aspect of the franchise in front and behind the screen. There's something here that's kept me interested for the best part of four decades! Now I'm getting back into writing and using Star Trek as my first line of literary attack. If I'm not here on WhatCulture then you're more than welcome to come and take a look at my blog, Some Kind of Star Trek at http://SKoST.co.uk or maybe follow me on Twitter as @TheWarpCore. Sometimes I force myself not to talk about Star Trek.
