Star Trek: 10 Riker Romances That Were A TOTAL Security Risk

Not to be confused with the film of the same name, First Contact sees Riker rushed into hospital whilst undercover on Malcor III. Despite alterations to look like the near-warp inhabitants, it soon becomes obvious that he's an alien in disguise.

With guards at every exit point, a helpful nurse named Lanel suggests he might be able to escape if she distracts them. There's just one catch...she wants him to make love to her. Her words, not ours. It seems he managed to find the one nurse in the hospital that's really into aliens.

So, Riker respectfully declines, explaining how inappropriate it would be for him to grant her wish. That they have no idea of the health or medical repercussions, or the diplomatic consequences, or the spiral of aggression that might come as a result. Not to mention Starfleet's strict rules against cultural contamination with pre-warp species. Then, using his highly honed negotiation skills, he persuades her to help him anyway, because it's the right thing to do.

Who are we kidding? Of course he didn't. Absolutely none of that happened. Instead, he awkwardly tries to put her off the idea before doing it anyway. Sure, the scene discreetly transitions to the next, but the suggestive way she straightens her glasses as she leaves tells us all we need to know.

The icing on the cake is when Lanel asks if she'll ever see him again, and he quips that he'll call her the next time he passes through the system.

Smooth, Riker. Really smooth.
