Star Trek: 12 Most Powerful Beings Ever

10. Nagilum

Star Trek has often been one of the best examples in science fiction for offering depictions and portrayals of intelligence far greater than humanity. One such example is Nagilum, the space-borne entity who existed outside of our space time continuum. Immensely powerful, Nagilum trapped the Enterprise-D in a hole in space.

The purpose was relatively simple. It wanted to experiment on the crew of the Enterprise to better understand beings with a limited existence. By that, it specifically wanted to understand death in corporeal beings, something that it had no concept of personally.

Many more examples of testing were put to the crew, though these tests were brought to a halt by Captain Picard. While he argued first for Nagilum to release the ship, he eventually set the auto-destruct on board the ship to prove to the entity just how unwilling they were to submit to its experiments.

Nagilum released the ship, though not without a final word. As the Enterprise from the Morgana Quadrant, Nagilum appeared to Picard one last time, concluding that it had gathered all of the information on the crew that it needed. It found that it had very little in common with them, conceding that the only similarity they had would be the curiosity that existed in both.
