Star Trek: 12 Most Powerful Beings Ever

11. The Metrons

Another species greatly advanaced by their technology, the Metrons inhabited a sector of space that the Enterprise encounters in the 2260s, while pursuing a Gorn Hegemony starship.

Both ships were stopped by a tractor beam of enormous strength, to the point where neither had a hope of breaking free. Both captains were beamed to a nearby planet, ordered to fight to the death. The victor would then be allowed to go free, while the loser's starship would be destroyed.

The most famous fistfight in Star Trek history then followed, with Kirk and Gorn going head to head. Kirk would emerge victorious, though he would surprise the Metrons by refusing to kill his opponent. They then conceded that Starfleet may not be entirely savage, though still believed it would take many hundreds of years before they would exists on the Metrons' level.

They returned both captains to their ships, then banished both vessels away from their system. The Enterprise was sent 1,600 light years away from their space, which was roughly 3 years travel at a Constitution Class ship's top speed of Warp 8.
