Star Trek: 20 Worst Episodes Ever

11. Fury (VOY)

CBS

The character of Kes was dumped at the beginning of the fourth season of Star Trek: Voyager when Jeri Ryan was added to the cast as Seven of Nine. Her departure involved her reaching another plane of existence, turning into pure energy, and launching Voyager 10,000 lightyears closer to home.

So, it was a little odd that when the writers decided to bring her back for a single episode two and a half years later, they had the character go on a senseless rampage throughout the ship. What could her motivation possibly be for this act of violence (and whatever happened to her evolution into pure energy?). A better episode might have made sense of this nonsense, but Fury seems content to dump all over a character who was unceremoniously abandoned by the show, rather than provide her with any reasonable motivation.

There's some time travel theatrics and (another) heartfelt farewell for Kes at the end of it all, but it's hard to be moved by an episode that wastes the character and makes little sense. It seems best to remember her previous farewell episode, The Gift, and just pretend that Fury never existed.
