Star Trek: Discovery 3.10 Review: Ups And Downs From Terra Firma, Part 2

1. Everyone Toasting Georgiou (DOWN)

Star Trek Discovery Toast
CBS

This is potentially one of the most hamfisted scenes that Discovery has ever released!

Georgiou's departure makes absolute sense to affect Burnham, as the two of them had dragged a relationship through the fire and out the other side. With Saru, while it took a long time, there was a grudging respect at least as they slowly came to understand each other. Even Tilly, though this is a stretch, could understand why Georgiou had a place in their hearts.

But the rest of the crew? This scene makes very little sense!

Georgiou was a monster to them, a dictator from another universe who was directly responsible for the murder of countless lives. While she had made strides, there was little to no interaction with - and certainly not enough for these warm stories that they were all intent on sharing.

It unfortunately turns what was clearly designed as a warm moment of bonding into a head-scratching moment of farce. The episode really should have ended with Burnham and Book, with maybe a scene with Saru.

You win some, you lose some!
