Star Trek: The Original Series - Ranking Every Major Character Worst To Best
1. Spock
While arguably any of the three mains could have taken the top spot, it really had to go to Spock as the character that continues to practically define the franchise.
Leonard Nimoy as Spock, a Vulcan who is also half-human, has inspired generations of fans for over 50 years now. He is arguably the most complex character on The Original Series - a logical being who at times finds himself challenged by his emotions, even when he tries to hide them. As science officer and first officer aboard the Enterprise, he is often conflicted between what is the best option for the ship and the welfare of his friends.
Out of all the main crew, Spock is the one who goes on a personal journey throughout The Original Series as we see him come to terms with who he is. 'Amok Time' is a real classic as he goes through the unbearable Pon Farr mating ritual, we see the conflict with his father in 'Journey To Babel', and we even see him break free of his logic and fall in love in the classic 'This Side Of Paradise'.
It's testament to the legacy of the character that three actors have now taken on the role, with Zachary Quinto and Ethan Peck both using their iterations to honour the original version and expand on his mythology. Spock is the most famous and, in some ways, most relatable person in Star Trek, and he is rightly an icon in the sci-fi genre.
