Star Trek: Top 10 Riker Moments

6. I'm Through Running From These Bastards - Star Trek: Insurrection

Star Trek: Insurrection is often unfairly maligned for feeling like a long episode of The Next Generation. It's got all of the ingredients for an episode, though this writer believes that is a strength, not a weakness. While there are certainly a few silly moments, this particular silly moment is just great.

Of course the Enterprise-E has a manual steering column. Of course it's a 90s' era joystick. Why wouldn't it be? Despite every Starfleet ship being pilot from those fairly flat consoles before this moment, the joystick was just the right amount of nonsense to really give the audience a whoop.

The whole ship feels that rock to the side as Riker pilots, inertial dampeners be damned. At this stage in the film, if you weren't rooting for the Riker Maneuver, then the film probably wasn't for you. And that's ok too!
