Supergirl Season 2: 8 Easter Eggs & References You Might've Missed In 'The Adventures Of Supergirl'
5. Reeve Movie Moments
Speaking of which, that is far from the only callback to the beloved (well, at least the first two) Superman moves starring Christopher Reeve from the 1970s and 80s. Apart from Tyler Hoechlin’s performance owing a debt to Reeve, there are many specific references too.
First up, Clark’s tan Harrington jacket is very similar to the one worn by Reeve in Superman II. Similarly, the scene where he changes into his Supes outfit in an alleyway is also a direct lift from that movie. He also uses out-dated phrases like “lickety-split” when on the phone to Perry White. This recalls a similar penchant in the 1978 movie. e.g. telling Lois he had a “swell time” on his first day at work.
Going by comments from Winn, it seems that Lex Luthor is currently in jail for causing an earthquake in California - for some unknown scheme which Superman thankfully foiled. This sums up the final act of Superman, where the event was part of Lex’s crazy plan to control valuable real estate.
