Supernatural: 10 Biggest Fan-Service Moments
5. Scoobynatural
Supernatural quickly developed a knack for producing stories that were bizarre and unexpected, playing with the accepted formula for what could be done on American network TV.
One of the most out-there, brilliantly absurd examples of this, is Scoobynatural. If you're unfamiliar with this episode, then just think of the first image that pops into your mind when you read that title. Yep, that is exactly what this episode is about: a crossover between Supernatural and Scooby-Doo, in all its animated glory.
Serving as the 16th episode of the show's 13th season, this was a point in the show's history where all caution had well and truly been thrown to the wind. The plot sees Sam, Dean and Castiel sucked into an episode of Scooby-Doo, Where Are You! via a haunted TV, where they find themselves converted into 2D animated form and forced to play along with the episode. Dean, being the child that he is, is over the moon to have the chance to meet his childhood heroes, while also being keen to try his luck with Daphne.
As you can imagine, the episode is a mountain of fun, but it also manages to maintain a sensible and even touching plot. It likewise pays tribute to the Scooby gang and never veers into ridicule. It was clearly meant to be a bit of crazy fun for the audience to enjoy and the result is a wonderfully entertainig episode that fans of both franchises will love.
