Supernatural: The Best Episode From Every Season
10. Season 6 - The Man Who Would Be King
Since Castiel is such a fan favourite in the show, it is a shame we only got one episode throughout the series entire 15-year run dedicated solely to him. The Man Who Would Be King is filmed mostly from Castiel’s perspective as he explains to the viewer the reasoning for his actions throughout Season Six.
It is not until the end of the episode that we realise he is asking his father for guidance and reassurance that he is doing the right thing as Castiel has been long questioning his faith since becoming close to the Winchesters. Throughout this episode, we find out that Castiel is at war with Raphael as both think they would be better leaders for Heaven, having different points of view of how Heaven and faith should be ruled.
Castiel ultimately makes a deal with Crowley to use the souls of Purgatory to fight Raphael. The angel finds himself at a crossroads, as he is torn between staying true to the Winchesters and wanting to win the war so Heaven can become peaceful again. This episode is very emotionally driven as we as the viewers can see that Castiel thought he was doing the right thing but everyone around him telling him differently.
In the end, Castiel is wanting to find meaning behind his purpose and is begging for reassurance from his absent father to help him along the way.
