Supernatural: The Best Episode From Every Season

9. Season 7 - Death's Door

Supernatural Sam Jo
The CW

Season Seven was without a doubt the weakest season of the show, but that doesn’t mean it didn’t have excellent episodes. Season Seven’s Deaths Door is easily one of the saddest episodes of the whole show because we lose one of the fan favourite characters, Bobby Singer.

After being shot by the Leviathan's leader Dick Roman in the previous episode, we follow Bobby as he goes through all his memories keeping away from the reaper who is trying to take him over to the other side. We finally get to see Bobby’s heartbreaking backstory as it is revealed his father was abusive when he was younger, which made him cautious to have children of his own in fear he would become abusive to his children as his father did to him.

The episode also shows that Bobby was the one who was responsible for his father's death as on one faithful night, Bobby shoots his father out of self-defence during one of his violent outbursts.

Thankfully, the episode ends in a bittersweet way as Bobby finally accepts his death but it is shown that his relationship with the Winchester boys is what broke his family’s cycle of abuse as he states “I adopted two boys, and they turned out great. They turned out heroes.”
