Supernatural: The Best Episode From Every Season
7. Season 9 - King Of The Damned
King of the Damned puts Crowley into the spotlight showing that he did once have a heart before he turned into a demon. As Abaddon tries to bring down the Winchesters and Crowley to become the Queen of Hell, she devises a plan to bring Crowley’s son into the present day (formally living in 1700s) as her bargaining chip.
This is the first we see Crowley care about someone other than himself, as his parental chops kick in when he realises Abaddon has brought his son back. Torn between caring for his son and his want to be the King of Hell, Crowley agrees to show Abaddon where the First Blade is and trap the Winchesters to save his son, but he sneakily tells Dean about Abaddon's plan, which allows Dean to go in guns blazing.
Dean shockingly kills Abaddon at the end of this episode with the First Blade, setting the stage for demon Dean to rise, as Dean has now fully become a pawn in The Mark of Cain’s curse.
