Undoubtedly the couple who have come the furthest. To begin with they were both incapable of a normal conversation and their idea of intimacy was chatting for a few hours on Skype, but look at them now; holding hands, saying "I love you", and even sharing the odd kiss here and there. A long-running joke of the series is Amy's constant attempts to bring her relationship with Sheldon to the next level: she wants sex, and is rapidly losing subtlety in trying to make it happen. Sheldon remains adamant that he isn't capable of that kind of contact, but he also said that about kissing and dropping the 'L' bomb. Surely, on some level, he's going to find it within himself to be completely vulnerable with Amy and give her what she wants.
