In the last episode of Season 3, Sheldon goes on a blind date with Mayim Bialik's character, Amy Farrah Fowler. Although the character could've made a single appearance, fans were instantly won over by her, encouraging the showrunners to let Amy join the ensemble in the following season.

But if you were paying attention, you would've noticed Bialik was already mentioned in Season 1. In the thirteenth episode, Sheldon, Raj, Leonard, Howard are preparing for The Physics Bowl Quiz. Because Sheldon keeps acting like a... Sheldon, he's kicked off, forcing his teammates to seek a replacement.

While brainstorming, Raj suggests Mayim Bialik would be a great teammate since "she's got a PhD in neuroscience or something". Instead of calling her by her name, Raj refers to her as "that girl who played TV's Blossom". However, since Bialik was synonymous with the show before starring in The Big Bang Theory, anyone familiar with Blossom knew exactly who Raj was referring to.

Interestingly, Bialik never watched The Big Bang Theory until she auditioned so she had no idea her tenure on Blossom was referenced.
