The Boys Season 1: 9 Questions In Desperate Need Of Answers
7. Was That Gus Fring?!
Fans of Breaking Bad, rejoice! Episode Eight of The Boys features a very short and snappy appearance from the one and only Giancarlo Esposito. Known best for his outstanding role as crime lord Gustavo Fring in Breaking Bad, Esposito plays Stan Edgar, the head of Vought International.
In the scene in question, Edgar has a briefing with Madelyn Stillwell in which he offers her a pay rise and a promotion for successfully getting the bill allowing supes into the military through congress.
This could just be a short cameo as fan-service, but that seems unlikely for two reasons.
Firstly, Stan Edgar’s position in Vought International offers huge potential to build him up as the sort of villain Esposito has already proven he can play so well. A cold and calculating businessman with a friendly smile, but a gun pointed at the back of your head? Where have we seen him do that before?
Secondly, Eric Kripke confirmed in an interview that he has further plans to develop Edgar in Season Two. When asked about Esposito’s return, Kripke is said to be thankful that he is “…available and enthusiastic.”
Going by Kripke’s statements and the chosen character, this looks to be almost a done deal for Season Two.
