The Boys Season 3: Every Character Ranked Worst To Best

7. Hughie Campbell

Throughout the series, Hughie has been presented as its main protagonist, an ordinary, out-of-his-depth everyman who's been thrust into adventure and thus acts as an outlet for the audience's fear, confusion, and rage. In season three, he's given his most challenging storyline yet.

Pushed to the breaking point by Butcher's suicidal antics, as well as his job with the CIA, the friction in his relationship with Starlight, and all the tragedy and loss he's faced, season three finds Hughie putting it all on the line and joining Butcher in taking Compound V.

This brutal development leads to a lot of heartache -- particularly as it alienates Starlight and Mother's Milk and he seems to enjoy having power a bit too much -- and causes Hughie to really focus on finding himself and mending bridges by the season's thrilling finale.

Watching Hughie struggle with his anxieties is always tough, but season three has brought him much more danger and sorrow than usual, with brilliant results.
