The Falcon & The Winter Soldier: 12 Biggest Takeaways From Episode 5

7. Sam's Wings

There is another theory that has been running from before the show even dropped on Disney+ in the first place, regarding the legacy, not of the shield, but of Sam Wilson's Falcon. Most people expected to see Sam take on the mantle of Captain America, but this would leave the world without a Falcon.

This could be where Joaquin Torres steps in. In the comics, he took on the mantle after Sam stepped into Steve Rogers' shoes, and though he won't have his DNA mixed with Redwing's (for obvious reasons), episode five just dropped the biggest tease that he will become a hero himself.

During Sam and Bucky's fight with John Walker, the super soldier pinned Falcon to the ground and ripped his wings from him. Torres asked Sam about them after, and even called out to him that he had forgotten them, but Sam told Joaquin to keep them.

This may end up being nothing more than a nod to the character's history in the comics, but Torres has already proven to be a popular and bizarrely wise character, and according the Malcolm Spellman, Danny Ramirez is loved by everyone, including the Marvel execs. He could potentially have a big future within the MCU as the new Falcon moving forward. His asking to help fix Redwing in episode one could have been some excellent foreshadowing to how he will eventually get the wings fixed and use them for himself.
