The Flash Season 6 Review: 5 Ups & 2 Downs From 'A Girl Named Sue'

1. A Lot Of Fun With A Lot Of Heart

We've touched upon it already but usually when an episode of The Flash allows Ralph to lead it, it descends into OTT humour that just comes off as far too corny for this once-endearing show. And after last week's Ralph-less episode somehow managed to do the same without him, it's understandable why some were concerned that 'Love Is A Battlefield' was being followed up by a Ralph-centric offering. Well y'know what? That concern was completely misplaced.

In the ultimate ironic twist, 'A Girl Named Sue' blew last week's episode out of the water, highlighting that even the show's newer characters are capable of pulling off an endearing-but-funny adventure in the vein of Season 1's glory days whenever they're allowed to.

Ralph was the best that he has ever been here as the writers capitalized on his private detective origins and used them to propel this narrative forward and produce a fun-filled caper that was just so much darn fun.

A major improvement over the previous episode and one of the season's most enjoyable, this is the kind of heart and humour The Flash does best. And if we learned anything from it, it's that there's a well of untapped potential in Ralph (and, of course, Sue) just waiting to be explored.
