The Flash Season 7: 9 Theories On The Identity Of The New Big Bad

4. Reverse-Flash

Some would say he's the reverse, but we prefer to think of him as the recurring.

The Reverse-Flash is never far from Barry Allen's thoughts because he's quite literally never far from Barry Allen. He's everywhere and nowhere all at once, returning within the blink of an eye and still finding loopholes to overcome death, erasure and now, the Crisis On Infinite Earths.

Eobard Thawne made his presence felt in the midst of the sixth season when he tried to take over Nash Wells' body, as the last Wells in the multiverse found himself becoming the host for all Wells... even those pretending to be him (we're looking at you Thawne!). And though he was unsuccessful in his bid for Harrison Wells supremacy (thanks Team Flash), he didn't die either... as he was expelled from Nash's body and into the atmosphere - creating a pretty scary lightning storm in the process.

There's a reason that The Flash keeps coming back to Thawne. The Reverse-Flash is, by far, the greatest villain the Arrowverse has ever seen and both the show and Tom Cavanagh did a masterful job bringing him to life as the Big Bad of the first season. And with a Thawne-themed cliffhanger originally planned for the season 6 finale, you can rest assured that he will return next season.

But will he ascend to Big Bad territory once again? It feels inevitable that he will do so at least once more before the show comes to an end, but is Season 7 when it's destined to happen?
