7. The Terrific Cast Of Rich Characters
This show would be nowhere near as good as it is without a cast this incredible, and from top to bottom, everyone delivers 110%.
It's honestly tough to pick the best among the bunch, though Carla Gugino, Elizabeth Reaser and Flanagan's wife Kate Siegel certainly stand out the most among the adult cast members.
That's not to forget E.T.'s Henry Thomas nor Oscar winner Timothy Hutton, both of whom give splendid performance as the young and old versions of the family patriarch Hugh Crain.
As for the younger cast members, Lulu Wilson is brilliantly cast as the child version of Reaser's character Shirley - she's a dead ringer for Reaser and previously played her daughter in Ouija: Origin of Evil, also directed by Flanagan - while Mckenna Grace frequently steals the show as the child equivalent of Siegel's character Theo.
Everyone gets plenty of time to shine over the course of the ten episodes, and thanks to both the evocative writing and Flaganan's tendency for long takes with intense close-ups, it's more of a dramatic acting showcase than just about anybody could've anticipated.
