The Lord Of The Rings: The Rings Of Power Episode Six Review - 6 Ups & 3 Downs
5. Up - King Of The Southlands Finally Embraces His Title
Introduced in the second episode, Halbrand initially came off as a brash man who was running away from a big secret. And when that secret was finally unveiled, he chose to embrace his role as the King of the Southlands.
After rescuing everyone alongside Galadriel and the Númenor army, the Queen introduced him to the villagers, and seeing everyone around look up to him, Halbrand finally embraced who he was meant to be. Showing a smile filled with confidence, he was freed from his past trauma and ready to save his people against such heavy odds.
This small moment was a pivotal one, as for several episodes he turned away from who he really was, while Galadriel continued to drag him into a conflict he did not want to be a part of. But, aware of her knowledge and how encouraging she is to all the people around her, he too was charmed to join the fight, even if it meant facing a terrifying foe.
How the last two episodes will show what kind of responsibilities and adventures he has is hard to say, but he will be there for his people as they are forced to confront the ashy terrain together.
