The Office: Ranking Every Main Character Worst To Best
2. Michael Scott
By all accounts, it should be impossible to like Michael Scott. He was unbelievably selfish, utterly desperate for attention and a nightmarish boss. Yet despite this, Steve Carell brought such care-free energy and naïve innocence to the role that you just couldn't help but love him, despite all of his glaring flaws.
The character was clearly designed to act as the American counterpart to Ricky Gervais' iconic David Brent, and it seemed to be going that way at first. But, eventually, the character picked up his own identity. He loved ridiculous things, was overly loud/obnoxious, and yet was utterly in love with his team - at least most of them.
Michael balanced out his selfish desires and the passion he had for his workforce perfectly, which is why he became such a popular character. Seeing him depart from the show genuinely left it feeling a little hollow, as he was and still is the most recognisable, and memorable part of the title.
He may not have come first, but you'll still have trouble forgetting him. That's what she said.
