The Politician Season 2 Review: 6 Ups & 2 Downs

1. The Promise Of More

One of the best things about the first season of The Politician was its rug-pulling, time-jumping season finale that picked up long after things had fallen apart for Payton, setting up a second that promised to put things back together for the future Politician.

The second season is something of an inversion of that formula, continuing the story in the present as things are going his way. It does, however, use that momentum to catapult itself forward another two-years in the closing moments as Payton is presented with another unexpected opportunity to advance his political career further.

An ending that is both triumphant and melancholic, it marks the beginning of a new chapter for the president-in-the-making and takes him one step closer to getting there. And, much like its predecessor, it has set up another season that promises to be even more interesting than what we've seen so far. And after those seven episodes, you can rest assured this writer will be watching.
