The Simpsons: 10 Awesome Things You Forgot Ever Happened

3. Herbert Forgives Homer - Brother, Can You Spare Two Dimes? (s3e24)

The Simspsons
Fox

In the episode, O, Brother, Where Art Thou?, Homer discovers he has a long-lost brother called Herbert. Not only that, Herb is a CEO of a motor company, and is eager to let Homer help out with his work.

But when Homer's ridiculous ideas cause Herb's business to fail, he's left without a penny to his name. Tired of living a beggar's life, Herb tries to get back on his feet with his new invention - the baby translator. Unable to raise the money himself for his contraption, Herb reluctantly asks Homer to help him (after punching him in the face, of course).

Luckily, the baby translator is an immediate success, allowing Herb to regain his fortune. As a token of thanks, Herb gives Homer a vibrating chair. He also tells Homer that he once again sees him as a brother and forgives him for everything.

When you watched this episode as a kid, you probably thought, "Yeah, forgiveness is good and all, but that massage chair looks pretty sweet."

But when you revisit this episode as an adult, it leaves a much bigger impact. Instead of living with resentment and regret, it was heartwarming to see the Simpson siblings put their differences aside, acknowledging that family comes above all else.
