The Simpsons: 10 More Moments More Important Than You Realised
3. Lisa And Nelson
Ralph Wiggum. Hugh Parkfield. Daniel Radcliffe's Edward Cullen parody. Freakin' Milhouse! When it comes to guys, Lisa Simpson is fresh out of luck.
All of this without mentioning Nelson Muntz, with whom Lisa had a brief fling in the episode Lisa's Date With Density.
Ew, using the word "fling" to describe an eight-year-old felt weird.
As it turns out, this romance was far from brief, as it has cropped up a whole bunch over the show's subsequent episodes. Nelson is often shown displaying favouritism towards Lisa, leaving her out of his bullish actions. He even goes to some pretty extreme lengths to impress, including reading b-b-b-books!
Unbelievable!
The idea of the pair ending up together came full circle in the Season 34 episode When Nelson Met Lisa, which imagines the life the two could have together in adulthood. This came a whole 26 years after she and Nelson first hooked up.
Again, feels weird to write that about a second grader.
This love story has been one of the most enduring and surprising in the show's entire history. Maybe they'll pay it off fully one day, or maybe Nelson will leave Lisa at the altar to throw coleslaw at Skinner's house again.
