The Simpsons arguably has the greatest cast of characters this side of... well, The Simpsons. There is arguably no other television show in the history of the medium with such a large and varied spectrum of individuals, many of whom could be classed as some of the greatest fictional characters of all-time. Which is all pretty much another way of saying: "Simpsons. Characters. Good" - the sheer scope of it is all a bit mind-boggling, really. That said, not every Simpsons character deserves their reputation. They can't all be rich and three-dimensional; not everybody is a Homer or a Ned Flanders or a Principal Skinner; sometimes a character just doesn't quite work. That said, a general kind of Simpsons fever hasn't stopped ardent fans of the show from offering some truly overrated characters with a seriously unwarranted amount of praise over the span of the show's super long run. Overestimated, overvalued, overrated, it's all those Simpsons characters you've been suspecting don't quite deserve their reputations but have been too afraid to say anything...
