Reverend Lovejoy has a sort of reputation for being a "classic" Simpsons character; he's in the background of all the scenes, after all, and he usually has a line or two in every other episode. You know, just filler stuff, but he's there - always around; always involved. Point is, though, Reverend Lovejoy has been around for ages; he's considered to be part of the iconic cast of the characters and yet has never done anything to earn that rep. At all. All audiences really know about him is that he likes trains and is married to Helen Lovejoy. Oh, and he has a daughter named Jessica Lovejoy who - in the span of one episode - turned out to be more memorable than her father. He's a bit of a bore, his lines are never that funny, and his character is muddled. Is he actually religious or a cynic? Who knows?
