The Simpsons: 20 Best Movie Parodies

The Simpsons contains so many well-made movie parodies that it is entirely subjective what you call the greatest but we've plumped for this classic Treehouse Of Horror segment, the best one ever for our money, that ingeniously lampoons Stanley Kubrick's horror film.

In just ten minutes, it gets through all the film's great scenes with typical Simpsons twists. Obviously, the "No TV and no beer..." skit is rightly lauded as a fantastic parody of the film's "All work and no play..." scene but other gems include the blood pouring out of the elevator and Homer and the family being frozen in the snow just like Jack Torrance. 

It's just a shame they missed the trick of casting Sherri and Terri as the ghostly twins. 

The Simpsons crew must be huge fans of Kubrick as spoofs of many of his impressive filmography appear throughout the show. Last year, this Kubrick obsession was taken to its hilt and a segment of Treehouse Of Horror XXV was devoted to parodying multiple of his films, and featured an appearance by the man himself.
