8. Abe 'Grandpa' Simpson
Kooky old people are so much fun, so long as you're not dealing with them yourself. That much can be seen in the most senior member of The Simpson family, as the great Abe Simpson is one of the most colourful characters in the whole show.
As the father of Homer, you know that this guy must be something special as who else would raise a child like him? Abe has been a significant part of the series for almost its entire run, and he's subject to a whole host of jokes about being old, grumpy and hating the modern world.
The dynamic between him and his son is also one of the most interesting relationships in the show, as they care for each other but struggle to show it. They're constantly bickering and arguing, and this truthfully reflects what dysfunctional relationships are like whilst still having plenty of fun.
