The Simpsons: Every Treehouse Of Horror Ranked Worst To Best

17. XXVI. Wanted: Dead Then Alive; Homerzilla; Telepaths Of Glory

The Simpsons The Shinning

The opening segment of 2015's Halloween special sees the return of the much-loved Sideshow Bob, who finally gets his chance to kill Bart (it had to happen at some point in a Treehouse), only to find, Joker/Batman style that he needs Bart to be truly happy. From there it all gets a bit silly, with Bob building a reanimator machine to keep killing Bart and reviving him (which is basically an episode of Itchy & Scratchy from an earlier season). The grotesque creature Bart ends up turning Bob into is worth the final act alone though.

Second up another recycled idea, with Homer becoming Godzilla (so that's King Kong and Japan's most famous monster he's swapped places with, then). As a spectacle, it's a lot of fun, but it doesn't really have much longevity and some of the jokes are a bit questionable.

And the final segment is another idea The Simpsons have done - with Milhouse and Lisa gaining superpowers, only this time in a close parody of Chronicle, with another Maggie-related narrative hail Mary. It's a little short and a little too slight to be particularly great.
