The Simpsons: Ranking Every Alternate Future Episode From Worst To Best
5. Mr. Lisa's Opus
While some critics panned it, Mr. Lisa's Opus is actually a rather enjoyable future-themed episode of The Simpsons. Yes, there are much, much better Lisa-centric episodes out there (including a big one on this list), however, for what it is, this one is perfectly fine and perfectly harmless.
After all, Lisa is one of the show's most reliable characters when it comes to being the driving force behind episodes. And while this installment rehashes the "future-themed story about Lisa in college" premise from previous episodes, it does bring a couple of new ideas to the table that help make it entertaining in its own right.
Much like how Days of Future Future was a follow-up to Holidays of Future Passed, Mr. Lisa's Opus is the spiritual successor to Barthood. But whereas Days of Future Future tried and failed to live up to its predecessor, Mr. Lisa's Opus is a much-welcomed addition to its duology.
It does right by the character of Lisa Simpson and what she represents, introduces some charming characters, and its story contains a decent blend of humor and cynicism.
