The Simpsons: Ranking Every Alternate Future Episode From Worst To Best
6. Bart To The Future
The season eleven episode Bart to the Future is considered by critics to be one of the single worst episodes of The Simspons' long run. That's an assessment that is honestly a bit harsh, but it is still a mediocre episode that leaves a lot to be desired.
Bart to the Future introduces a lot of good ideas, such as Lisa being president of the United States while Bart is a college dropout and failing musician. However, it fails to use them to their full potential, which leaves the whole endeavor feeling rather uninspired.
There are some very funny things about this episode, most notably the subplot that involves Homer searching the White House for Abraham Lincoln's secret treasure. But when the big payoff of Lisa being the president is Homer essentially starring in a National Treasure prequel, you have to question the writers' priorities.
Bart to the Future is far from a terrible half hour of television, but as far as Simpsons episodes go, it's the embodiment of the phrase "missed opportunity." It wasn't as disappointing as Days of Future Future, but was just as inconsequential.
