The Umbrella Academy Season 2: Ranking EVERY Character From Worst To Best
1. Five
Was there ever any doubt?
Aidan Gallagher's show-stealing turn as the man-trapped-in-his-adolescent-self's body was one of the many standout aspects of the show. He carried himself with a bizarre maturity that you normally wouldn't see from an actor of his age, allowing him to nail all the quirks and mannerisms of the highly-strung man-child that Five had become.
That was all when he had good material to work with, so can you imagine what he did with great material? Season 2 gave us plenty of opportunities to see that first-hand.
Five is as tightly-wound and snarky as ever, but once again, he has good reason to be. After all, it's not every day you find out your family is going to die in a nuclear blaze... again. He handles it with as much fire and tenacity as we've grown to expect from him, but this presents an opportunity for a deeper dive into his character.
He's angrier and more driven than before, but he's also beginning to show compassion that we hadn't seen until now. It was always clear that he cared about his family, but now he's starting to show it more. And even when he doesn't (which is most of the time to be honest), it's clear that the compassion is there.
Five may be the smallest (it's not like we can call him the youngest) member of the Umbrella Academy, but for the second-straight year, his presence is larger-than-life. And whenever he's on-screen, you can rest assured we're all paying attention.
