The Walking Dead: 10 Twists You Never Saw Coming

8. Carol Was The Killer

The Walking Dead Sophia
AMC

The fourth season of the show saw an interesting storyline where the Prison was threatened by a viscous flu that had started to kill off survivors. Matters only spiraled when two bodies were found, Karen and David's, murdered by someone to stop the spread of the disease. It lead to a fight between Rick and Tyreese and had all our favourite characters second guessing one another.

Not many would have expected unassuming Carol to be the killer. While she had started to come out of her shell, this was the first truly ruthless act that we would see Carol perform in the show. Perhaps even more surprising is her conviction in her actions, standing strong by her decision to act. While she does make a case for herself, Rick chooses to exile her nonetheless.

It can be easy to forget that Carol was once such a timid and quiet character, especially with how she acts in later seasons of the show, but this was quite the shock to audiences when it first aired. It was even surprising to Tyreese when she got round to telling him.
