6. It Would Test Him To The Limits

Everything Rick has done since the very beginning of the entire show has been to protect his family and provide a better life for Carl and Judith. How far is he willing to go to ensure their safety? It's unlikely enough that both of the youngsters have made it this far, so when either of them next faces danger, could Rick sacrifice himself for their safety? Rick's reputation is growing, with Aaron tailing the group for miles, so who's to say the Wolves don't already know who he is and how much of a threat he could pose? If anybody gets leverage on Rick via his children, he'd offer himself up willingly barring a last-ditch rescue. He's the lynchpin of the group, so taking him out would be a huge boost for any rivals that may emerge.
