The Walking Dead Season 11 Review: 7 Ups & 2 Downs From "Rendition"

5. UP: The Excellent Pacing & Tight Narrative Focus

The Walking Dead
AMC

Last week's episode was a mess narratively, mainly because it decided to focus on several different stories at once despite them all having strikingly different tones and importance.

Rendition, though, is a much more focussed hour, telling one story at a time and allowing audiences to not become too overwhelmed by the sheer number of characters and developments taking place.

A striking blend of action, cathartic drama, and the numerous aforementioned plot twists, the episode keeps its story moving flawlessly, whilst also advancing the development of its central characters and their growing conflict.

Simply put, Rendition serves as a nice reminder of how much better The Walking Dead is when it slows things down and takes things one step at a time, rather than attempting to stuff half a dozen stories in an episode at once.
