The Wire Cast: Where Are They Now?
11. Deirdre Lovejoy
Tenacious lawyer Rhonda Pearlman might be the most purely good and uncorrupted character in The Wire. Portrayed by Deirdre Lovejoy she’s as salty and hardened as anyone in law enforcement, but unwilling to cut corners and appalled by the actions of some of her colleagues who are willing to bend and break the rules in the pursuit of their own perception of justice.
Since The Wire wrapped, Lovejoy has appeared in some substantial productions, including Steven Spielberg’s The Post (whose lead actor, Tom Hanks, appeared onstage with Lovejoy in Nora Ephron’s Lucky Guy).
Her small screen work has kept her consistently busier, including a three episode arc on Bones as Heather Taffet (another attorney, only this time a serial killer too), and the recurring role of Cynthia Panabaker on quite odd James Spader drama The Blacklist. Indeed Lovejoy has appeared in just about every modern TV drama you could imagine.
Lovejoy maintains her stage roots, and in 2019 wrote and starred in the play Bird Elephant China, based around her history with seizures.
