The Wire Cast: Where Are They Now?
2. Chris Bauer
The unsung hero of The Wire, Frank Sobotka, lasted just one season, but made a terrific impact. Obliquely pushing David Simon’s message of class struggle, the longshoreman turned mule was played to perfection by Chris Bauer, whose weary performance made the man’s every dip into criminality completely understandable.
Bauer has appeared in many modern TV shows of note, including guest turns in both The Office and Parks and Recreation. He was a recurring part of underrated Starz sports comedy Survivor's Remorse, co-produced by LeBron James.
He brought his rumpled authority to David Simon’s The Deuce, co-starring as James Franco’s brother in law Bobby Dwyer, another working man who gets drawn into a shady lifestyle. He appeared as a recurring detective in American Crime Story’s retelling of the OJ trial.
He’s perhaps best known for his turn as Andy Bellefleur on True Blood, which he stuck with until the bitter (and disappointing) end. He currently features on Apple+’s decent if quite dry speculative space drama For All Mankind.
