Titans Season 2: 7 Ups & 2 Downs From ‘Deathstroke’

2. Hank's Unexpected Connection To Jason

Hank Hall and Jason Todd may not have shared all that many scenes together but from the moment they first met, they've had a unique love/hate relationship that literally always veers towards hate. However, that took an interesting turn in this week's installment, as the veteran Titan discovered that the newbie had been abducted.

Hank was initially nonplussed about the whole thing (because it was Jason), but it soon became apparent that Jason's abduction was getting to him - so much so that he desperately tried to save him at Rose's expense. And when pressed upon his actions by Dawn, he emotionally revealed that his attempts to rescue Jason stemmed from the abuse he suffered as a child - stating that he knows what it's like to be alone and scared in the dark, waiting for someone to rescue him.

When you really think about it, he and Jason aren't all that different. They're both badasses with smart mouths that often struggle with anger issues and, like them or not, there was something incredibly endearing about hearing Hank shout "That a boy!" down the phone when Robin 2.0. back-chatted Deathstroke.

Whether or not he's actually grown fond of Jason remains to be seen, but the fact of the matter is that this is some major character development for Hank - development that made expert use of his emotional backstory.
