Twin Peaks Season 3: 10 Things That Need To Happen
9. A Direct Follow On
Honestly, at this point Twin Peaks fans will take anything they're given. That's why they put up with nonsense like A Witch House Tribute To Twin Peaks, a weird compilation of songs from a flash-in-the-pan musical subgenre which saw a large percentage of bands with upside-down crucifixes in their names. Now that a return of the show has all but been confirmed, and it's not a hoax, nor a dream, nor an imaginary tale, they can probably afford to have a few expectations. Specifically what the show is going to consist of: there was speculation, before Showtime confirmed what was actually going on, that we might see a Twin Peaks reboot, or else a continuation that picked up immediately where the second season ended. Obviously that's not going to happen, since everyone's going to be old, but there's still a bunch of plot threads that need to be tied up. Principal among those is what exactly happened to Agent Dale Cooper? Frustrating though it was the original finale of Twin Peaks was one of the greatest in television history, a deliciously dark cliffhanger where the incorruptibly pure FBI investigator had his physical form possessed by the irredeemably evil BOB whilst his soul was trapped in the Black Lodge. What happened immediately after that, and what state's the town in two decades later? Has all the bad stuff taken over the good with the paragon of justice destroyed? How does everyone react to Cooper's transformation, or does he manage to hide it whilst doing...whatever it is BOB does? What about Windom Earle? Did Shelly have her baby? And were there any survivors of the explosion at the bank that seemed to kill Andrew, Pete, and Audrey? They better tell us. Or else.
