Umbrella Academy: 11 Biggest Questions After Season 2

Alongside the exceedingly stylish action, The Umbrella Academy also has a tender side. In season two, this side of the show was rooted in the relationship between Alison (Emmy Raver-Lampmen) and newfound husband Ray (Yusuf Gatewood).

Separated from her family scattered across time, Alison found a new life for herself with civil rights activist Ray as they fought for equality by organising peaceful protests. Tragically for Alison, she was unable to get the happy ending she was hoping for when she had to leave her husband to return to the future. Although Ray was offered to come with her where they could potentially continue their relationship, he declined, believing that he had to remain to continue his own fight for equality.

Alison and Ray’s relationship was the emotional core of this season. Their tender farewell was genuinely heart-breaking to witness, but was this really goodbye to Ray? He was still relatively young in 1963 and could very possibly still be alive in 2019. He also chose not to have his memories erased by Alison either and it’s unlikely he’d forget his encounter with the Academy.
