Vikings: Every Season Ranked Worst To Best
3. Season 2
Vikings' second season is all about the villains, revolving around the three-way power struggle between Ragnar, King Horik, and Jarl Borg. Ragnar is also introduced to King Ecbert, who complicates things further for him. Season 2 relies upon its character relationships to tell the story while keeping the viewer guessing.
There are a few characters Ragnar can trust, as his relationship with Athelstan deepens, forming the crux of these early seasons. Floki plays a much larger part here in Season 2 than he had previously, and he keeps you guessing as to where his true allegiances lie.
But a season with this many antagonists can only end one way: in blood! And so, the Blood Eagle is introduced and is the clear winner of the most painful way to be executed.
Jarl Borg faces his demise via this method after crossing Ragnar and endangering his family. This sequence features a standout score from Wardruna, whose music helps bring the world to life. Although not as brutal, King Horik also meets his demise in a vicious onslaught from Ragnar.
The season ends with Ragnar overlooking his new found kingdom. All hail King Ragnar.
