Watchmen TV Show - 10 Theories From The New Teaser

In a moment that spanned some pretty serious - although unlikely - rumours that the series would draw from the Doomsday Clock DC series, the reveal of a pile of dead bodies lying outside a circus is one of the more ambiguous moments in the trailer thus far.

The obvious purpose for this scene is to show us the outreaching impact of the fake alien attack that ended the original Watchmen series. With such an intense and widespread moment of mass destruction, it's definitely worth showing again, as one of the things the first Watchmen film was criticised about is its lack of actually showing the monster itself.

However, this doesn't quite make sense in terms of the comic. The people who died in the comics are shown through a torrent of blood, whereas the trailer appears to show some entirely blood-free bodies.

Whether this suggests that these people are instead unconscious, as living people stand among them, or merely that HBO thought better than to use gore, is up to personal interpretation. With HBO's existing track record on gore, however, the former seems far, far more likely.
