Westworld Season 2: 10 Crucial Things That MUST Happen
9. The Elsie Question Must Be Answered
Such question being: is Elsie alive and well?
Sure, given what happened the last time we saw her, the answer isn’t too likely to be positive. Grabbed from the shadows after discovering shady evidence of data smuggling and host reprogramming among park higher-ups, the later implication was very much that poor Elsie was wiped off the map to protect dark secrets.
However, a long-standing rule of television states that no character death is certain unless a body is explicitly seen, and that’s something that most assuredly hasn’t occurred yet. If she is alive then, in what state will we find her and how will her shocking discoveries affect her position?
If the theme of the second season is a changing of the guard, switching positions of control, then Elsie falls under the category of park managers who are unlikely to enjoy the coming storm as the hosts inevitably make a stand.
Elsie wondered early on in the first season about just how screwed humanity would be if the hosts “ever remembered what the guests do to them”. She just may be about to find out.
